Sockellafette

Sockellafette in veldopstelling Originally concrete beds with a gun carriage for 5.cm, 7.5cm and 8.8cm guns, often produced by Rheinmetall Borsig. The guns should have armored plates to protect the gunners, but by material shortages, the armor plates were not available. The lack of material was felt in the whole structure, the concrete beds became dug out gunpits and for the carriage were also other inventive material saving solutions used.

Regelbau 703 for Sockellafette

The anti-tank bunkers of the Westwall in 1944 were no longer suitable for modern, heavier and bigger guns to house. For the ideal anti-tank weapon, the 8.8cm KWK 43-43/3, a new bunker was designed, the Regelbau 703. The Regelbau 703 could accommodate the gun and also had room for 180 pieces of ammunition in a small space. According to a report from February 1945, 4 were build in NRW and 13 bunkers in the sector of Festungs Pionier Kommandeur XVIII Niederrhein (Holland)
